About the Community Challenge

The 2023 Community Challenge

Texans are losing loved ones to preventable health diseases such as diabetes, obesity, and lung and heart disease at a record rate. Two in three Texas adults and one in three children are considered overweight or obese. But the Community Challenge can help change that narrative – it’s one piece of a complex approach to address Texas’ health crisis.

It’s Time Texas Community Challenge unites Texans from across the state to build a healthier Texas. This free eight-week competition challenges Texans to develop simple healthy habits like eating healthy, exercising, and staying hydrated because our everyday choices shape our health and our future. And like any good competition, it comes with prizes.

Champions Unite

The Community Challenge creates Health Champions. Health Champions are people committed to living a healthy lifestyle and passionate about uniting their community to live healthy too. Being a Health Champion is not about having a six-pack. It’s about living a healthier lifestyle and encouraging others to do the same. Every Texan plays a role in building a healthier Texas!
